What You Need to Know About Early Warning Services

Second Chance Checking | Early Warning Services

Early Warning Services is a check verification/account reporting system similar to ChexSystems. Formerly known as Primary Payment Systems, Early Warning Services or EWS is quickly making its name known in the banking industry and while they are not as popular as ChexSystems, their popularity is quickly growing. While some banks prefer to use ChexSystems, the Early Warning Services market share is rapidly expanding and some banks now use both services to verify accounts.

So here is what you need to know about Early Warning Services.

Early Warning Services is a company that is owned by Bank of America, BB&T Corporation, JPMorgan Chase, Wachovia, and Wells Fargo. They are also closely tied in with Deluxe Corporation (same company you order checks from). These partnerships were formed to provide a strategic alliance to help fight bank fraud as well as to secure more business opportunities.

EWS is a credit reporting agency just like ChexSystems and you are entitled to see a copy of your report and you are allowed to dispute any negatives on this report. You can obtain a copy of your report by calling 800-325-7775. The report is free now, but do not be surprised if they change and start charging for your reports in the future.

When requesting your reports, you should give then the following information:
 - name
 - address
 - social security number
 - drivers license number
 - current address
 - previous address(es) if you have moved in the last 5 years.

I would not answer any questions about employment, employer phone, etc. They do not need this info and are just trying to collect more data on you. I would tell them your unemployed if they ask. Do not give them any information concerning your personal finances, checking account, etc. If they ask, you do not have a checking or savings account.

Just remember, you have to protect your self and keep in mind that their business is to report any and everything the find out about you. So your job is to keep them from finding out as little as possible when it comes to you and your personal information.
